Where's the Copper

In June we had family visit from California!  We sure enjoyed time with Lonny's sister, Candi and her two children Casie and Kody.  We only had a few days with them so we decided to pack in a few events such as visiting the Kennocot Copper Mine.  Visit http://www.kennecott.com/
The mine has grown significantly since I left SLC in 1999.  Now it spans 2 3/4 miles along the top and 3/4 miles from top to bottom.  It's an awesome sight to see.
In this picture, cousin's Casie and Kody stand next to a tire of their machines.

These trucks (it feels so insignificant calling these monsters a truck).   One of these trucks haul about 320 tons carrying the rocks to the crusher to get to the copper!

This is a view of the wall.  You can see from the ledges they were formerly roads that the trucks drove on and as they drilled deeper and deeper they drilled into the sides.  I felt as if I were standing next to a major national monument.   They say this mine can be seen from outer space (it's that huge)
