Steward Falls Hike

Today we went on a family hike.  It's a great way for all of us to get exercise
and refuge to a higher cooler area of Utah.

Sophia loves to hike and she keeps it interesting for us with all her jibber jabber!

Her pose before the hike at the trailhead.  To get to the trailhead we drove up the Alpine Loop.  I love this drive up American Fork Canyon as there are so many wild flowers, aspens, and huge mountains.  Plus, it reminds me when Mick, Mom and I would take many Sunday drives on the Alpine Loop.

I thought it was interesting to see how the trunk of this tree shaped itself.

The trailhead sign.  If we chose to hike to Timpanogos Summit it'd be 6 miles each way...and pretty steep.  Our hike was 1.8 miles one way.

I noticed on our last two hikes they have a "Trail Registration Sheet".  I think this is a great safety measure so the forest ranger knows who is on the trail in case something happens.  I am sure not many people think to register.

Sophia was pretty tired today so Lonny gave her a lot of shoulder rides.  Way to go Dad!

This picture was taken at the lower tier of the water fall.  There are many tiers.  Sophia's pretty tired.  We had hiked about 1.5 miles to the first tier.

This picture captures the many water falls from the summit.

We made it to the next tier of water fall.  The total hike one way was 1.8 miles.  Here, we enjoyed the fruit and crackers for treats.  At first, Sophia was scared of the water.

BUT...then she asked Dad to get her wet by the water fall.  It was pretty cold.

We were the only people on the trail.  I was shocked as we usually see many people hiking.  The trail was beautiful and full of foliage as tall as Sophia.  So maybe families might not want to take their children on this hike.

So fun as a family!
